Copper: Another Reason for the Ammo Shortage?

Another reason for the ammunition shortage? Copper.

With increased production of electric cars and the U.S. Mint producing more coins, the ammo industry finds itself in competition for that material.

Chris Metz, CEO of Vista Outdoor Inc. - which operates four U.S. ammunition plants recently told Axios that his company competes with those industries for copper, but, raw material costs aside, that ammunition availability should be better in the near future because the Remington Ammunition plant in Lonoke, Arkansas is back in high production mode.

A year ago, approximately 450 people worked in the plant, and it now employs 1,050 - running two to three shifts per day / 6 days a week - and is looking to fill another 100 positions.
