Savage 110 Core Hunter Pro and Carbon Hunter: Built to Fit You

Savage has been building the 110 for decades, and the Core Hunter Pro and Carbon Hunter show where that experience has led. Adjustable stocks, threaded barrels, a carbon fiber barrel and an over-the-barrel suppressor: these are hunting rifles built around real-world needs, not spec sheet checkboxes.

The Savage 110 platform has been in production for decades, and the institutional knowledge that comes with that longevity shows up in every iteration. The Core Hunter Pro and Carbon Hunter represent the current state of that evolution.

The Core Hunter Pro

The Core Hunter Pro is the more fully featured of the two, and it leads with a spiral fluted barrel finished in Cerakote. The fluting isn’t just aesthetic. It adds surface area, which helps the barrel shed heat faster during extended shooting sessions. The Gun Metal Bronze Cerakote adds real durability for a hunting rifle that’s going to see rain, mud, brush and whatever else the field throws at it.

The barrel is threaded and the rifle ships with a muzzle brake installed. Swap the brake for a suppressor when you want to run quiet, or leave it on for recoil management during longer range sessions. That flexibility is one of the practical advantages of a threaded barrel that doesn’t get enough attention.

The AICS pattern magazine is a feature the serious rifle community will appreciate right away. AICS mags are widely available, well made and reliable across a broad range of conditions. For hunters and precision shooters who run their rifles hard, a proven magazine standard is a significant advantage.

AccuFit V2: The Stock Story

The original AccuFit system was a genuine innovation, letting shooters adjust length of pull and comb height to fit the rifle to their body rather than adapting their body to the rifle. AccuFit V2 builds on that with toolless length-of-pull and comb adjustments, interchangeable grip modules and M-LOK panels, all built into the stock.

The point is simple. You set the rifle up at home, before you ever get to the range, and it fits you. No separate spacers, no aftermarket parts.

The Carbon Hunter

The Carbon Hunter addresses a different market: hunters who want the weight savings and performance benefits of carbon fiber at a price that doesn’t require a serious budget conversation. Carbon fiber barrels have historically carried a premium that put them out of reach for a lot of hunters. Savage has made this one accessible enough that the benefits become practical. The barrel is threaded and the rifle offers user-friendly length-of-pull adjustment.

The video also shows the Savage AC30 B.O.B. suppressor, a can designed around a back-over-barrel mounting configuration. A B.O.B. suppressor extends rearward over the barrel rather than forward from the muzzle, so it adds less overall length than a conventional muzzle-mounted can while keeping the internal volume that makes a suppressor effective. For hunters carrying a rifle through thick cover, that difference matters in handling.

On the Range

KJ ran the Carbon Hunter with the AC30 B.O.B. installed and demonstrated the modern technique of using a thumb shelf on the stock. It takes the thumb out of the grip equation so the trigger finger can do its work cleanly. He then applied that technique to targets at distance, including a coyote that had been causing problems around the property. It made for a memorable and practical demonstration of what the rifle is actually for.

Final Thoughts

The Savage 110 Core Hunter Pro and Carbon Hunter are two strong options from a company that knows hunting rifles. The Core Hunter Pro brings premium features at an accessible price. The Carbon Hunter brings genuine weight savings, and it pairs well with a back-over-barrel suppressor like the AC30 B.O.B. The AccuFit V2 stock on the Core Hunter Pro remains one of the most practical shooter-fit solutions in the industry.

If you’re in the market for a hunting rifle that’s ready to use out of the box and built to fit you, both deserve your attention.
